However, I was l...I certainly share your suspicion. However, I was left wondering on what basis you rest your confidence in the ontological reductionism of physics. For surely emergence occurs? You'll know the simple examples -such as taking four straight lines of the same length, that when arranged so they join up with each other, create a new thing that you couldn't have got from the lines alone, namely 'squareness'.
