I...Lots of physicists do indeed seem to believe it. It's one way of interpreting one of the mathematical formulations of quantum theory. Those who believe it may have fallen prey to a combination of (i) wishful thinking, (ii) the influence of science-fiction, and (iii) reification, the tendency to assign concrete physical status to abstract entities or structures.

It's an idea which helps physics to build a bridge to the entertainment industry, and to sell popular science books. I intend to use it repeatedly. :-)

Nice to see you're hanging in there Bob, through all the posts about Grand Prix racing!Gordon McCabehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09151162643523937086noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37936507.post-55632758911540976382009-09-21T11:02:25.150+01:002009-09-21T11:02:25.150+01:00I think the many-worlds theory was the point where...I think the many-worlds theory was the point where science started to discredit itself. It is so absurd that even the story of a man with a white beard who created the earth in six days is more likely. Does anyone really believe this theory or is it just a thought experiment?Bobhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02040537651843418484noreply@blogger.com
