Quote of the week goes to Radio 5 film critic Mark Kermode, who described the love-scene between Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley in Pirates of the Caribbean 3, as 'like watching a couple of pieces of Ikea furniture mating with each other.'

film sex scenes are usually crap. Michael Mann keeps trying to use sex scenes (Heat, Miami Vice) but it never works, probably because his real forte is guns & sociopaths.
But surely Bloom is at the very least a combination of the best elements of de Niro, Nicholson and Brando all in one wonderful actor. As opposed to utterly bland.

I think in this case Dr Kermode was drawing attention to the talent-deficit of the respective actor and actress!

If by 'a combination of', you actually mean 'the antithesis of', then I quite agree Andrew.
