Kubica's accident

Poland's Robert Kubica intends to race at the American Grand Prix on Sunday, after this accident yesterday. I'd be impressed.

That would be impressive. Will the car be fixed in time?!

He should be put off the road for driving like that. A danger to man and beast.

I'll have to check on that. The monocoque still looks like it's in one piece. I suspect that in the event of a huge impact, even if the monocoque is intact, they'll discard it as a precautionary measure; there could be damage to the carbonfibre weave which isn't visible.

I think you may be underestimating the damage to the car, Gordon. To my admittedly untrained eye, it would appear that he "made shit of it." Though as I said, that's very much the view of a casual observer.

Actually, looking at the final photo again, you can see Kubica's feet, which means that the monocoque itself was damaged, so it would indeed be a write-off.
